SAN ANTONIO -- Jalin Hart scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half, Shawn Johnson added 16 points with 15 rebounds, and Incarnate Word beat Division III Texas Lutheran 78-71 on Wednesday night.
Tyler Singleton scored 17 points and his two free throws with 8:53 left in the second half gave the Cardinals a 61-54 edge. Zach Behr's 3-pointer pulled the Bulldogs within 73-69 with 1:20 left, but Singleton and Johnson combined for five free throws down the stretch and the Cardinals hung on.
Devin Wyatt added a career-high 12 points and set an Incarnate Word (4-3) record with 10 blocked shots. The Cardinals hit 26 of 36 free-throw attempts compared with the Bulldogs' nine makes.
Wyatt's go-ahead layup put the Cardinals up for good at 8-7 and Incarnate Word led 40-35 at halftime.
Behr scored 18 points and Michael Sullivan added 12 for the Bulldogs (4-3), who played it as an exhibition game.
