Koulechov scores 20 on perfect shooting, Rice rolls 93-64
HOUSTON -- Egor Koulechov had a perfect day shooting, scoring 20 points to lead Rice to a 93-64 win over Division II St. Edward's on Thursday.
Koulechov made all six of his shots from the field, including two 3-pointers, and all six of his free throws. Marcus Jackson added 12 points and Connor Cashaw 11 for the Owls (8-2).
Rice shot 61.5 percent in the first half (16 of 26) to race to a 49-28 lead.
Koulechov's second basket of the game made it 4-2 and started a 9-0 that included five points from Cashaw. A 17-0 run followed for a 32-8 lead. Marquez Letcher-Ellis started the string with a 3 and dunk by Austin Meyer ended it.
Letcher Ellis had 10 rebounds as the Owls outrebounded the Hilltoppers 51-32.
James Taylor led St. Edwards, which used the game as an exhibition, with 16 points.
