Brodeur leads Penn to 67-50 win over Robert Morris
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- AJ Brodeur scored 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds in his first college game to help Penn beat Robert Morris 67-50 in the season opener for both teams Friday night.
Matt Howard added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Penn, which improved to 3-0 all-time against Robert Morris.
Brodeur scored six points, including a put-back dunk after an offensive rebound, during a 13-2 run to open the game and Penn led the rest of the way.
Braden Burke made a layup to trim Robert Morris' deficit to 29-22 early in the second, but Brodeur answered with a layup on the other end to spark a 20-8 run, including two 3-pointers by Howard, that gave the Quakers a 19-point lead with 11 minutes left.
Isaiah Still led Robert Morris with 15 points.
The Colonials shot just 29 percent from the field, including 3 of 17 from 3-point range, and 52 percent (13 of 25) from the free-throw line.
