Martin leads UC Riverside in 96-48 win over Fresno Pacific
RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Dikymbe Martin scored a career-high 26 points with 11-for-13 shooting Saturday to lead UC Riverside past Division II-member Fresno Pacific for its first win of the season, 96-48.
Gentry Thomas added 14 points with 10 rebounds, for UC Riverside (1-2), Chance Murray had 11 points and Malike Thames 10. The Highlanders hit 37 of 69 from the field (53.6 percent) and controlled the boards 49-28.
UC Riverside broke away early with an 11-2 run capped by Alex Larsson's layup to make it 21-9 with 8:34 left in the opening half, took a 39-26 advantage into the break and outscored Fresno Pacific by 33 points over the final 20 minutes.
Fresno Pacific took a 4-3 lead early in the first half with Rafail Eleftheriou's layup before being overtaken moments later. TJ Viney scored 11 points, the only Sunbirds player to reach double figures.
