LAS VEGAS -- Jalen Poyser hit four 3-pointers and scored 20 points and UNLV turned on the jets down the stretch to beat UC Riverside 74-62 on Wednesday night.

Poyser shot 7 of 11 from the field and also added seven rebounds and three steals. Christian Jones finished with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting for the Rebels (1-1).

UNLV was in control much of the first half and held a comfortable 37-26 lead at the break. UC Riverside battled back for a 50-49 lead on a Dikymbe Martin 3-pointer with 7:58 to play.

UNLV responded with a 3-point play on the ensuing possession and Jovan Mooring added four straight free throws for a 56-50 Rebels lead. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Mooring and Poyser made it 64-54 with 3:10 left and the Highlanders never seriously threatened again.

Alex Larsson scored 14 points and grabbed nine boards for UC Riverside (1-2).
