Kennesaw State beats North Florida 85-68
KENNESAW, Ga. -- — Aubrey Williams scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Nick Masterson added 16 points and made eight assists, and Kennesaw State used a 23-2 first-half run to beat North Florida 85-68 and snap a two-game skid on Saturday.
Jordan Jones scored 16 points with 10 rebounds, Kendrick Ray had 14 points with 10 boards, and the Owls (13-16, 7-6 Atlantic Sun) outrebounded the Ospreys 40-32, outscored them 44-36 in the paint, and scored 20 points off of 19 turnovers.
Kennesaw State made a school single-game record 27 assists in scoring 35 of 68 field goals.
Trailing by nine at halftime, North Florida closed to within five points three times in the second half, but couldn't get closer. Tyler Hookers' layup capped a 14-7 run and the Owls led by 12, 74-62, with 3:28 left.
Jones' dunk and layup sparked Kennesaw State's opening 23-2 run in which Ray slammed down a two-handed dunk and the Owls led 42-33 at halftime.
Chris Davenport finished with a career-high 28 points for North Florida (12-18, 7-6).
