New Mexico State rallies late to beats CS Bakersfield 63-58
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Ian Baker scored 13 points as New Mexico State notched its 15th straight win, rallying late to beat CS Bakersfield 63-58 on Saturday night.
Baker was just 2 of 6 from the floor but hit 8 of 9 from the free throw line for the Aggies (17-2, 4-0 WAC). Jemerrio Jones and Eli Chuha scored 12 points apiece. Jones led with 16 rebounds and Chuha had 14 rebounds.
New Mexico State trailed early in the second half but Baker turned it around with a 3-pointer to put the Aggies on top 51-50 with 5:13 to play. A Jones layup made it 58-53 with 1:23 left and the Aggies held on for the win.
The Aggies trailed by as many as nine, 28-29, with 1:24 to go in the first half and Cal State Bakersfield led 31-24 at the break.
Jaylin Airington scored 19 points for the Roadrunners (11-7, 2-1). The loss ends a three-game winning streak for CSUB.
