UT Rio Grande Valley over NAIA Wayland Baptist 86-55

EDINBURG, Texas -- Antonio Green scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds as UT Rio Grande Valley beat Wayland Baptist of the NAIA 86-55 on Wednesday night.

Green was 6 of 16 from the field including three from distance for the Vaqueros (6-9). Nick Dixon added 13 points and six rebounds, Mike Hoffman had 11 points and five rebounds and Lew Stallworth had 10 points, five rebounds and six assists. The team averaged 40.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 25.8 percent for Wayland Baptist.

Green made Rio Grande's first field goal over three minutes into the game but the Vaqueros scored 21 unanswered points after that to take a 27-2 lead with 7:44 left in the first period. They held a 39-16 advantage at the break and led by more than 20 points throughout the second half.

Maurice Redmond scored 15 points with six rebounds for the Pioneers.
