Jugovic scores 20 leading Tennessee Tech past Hiwassee 80-47
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Aleksa Jugovic scored 20 points-nine in the first seven minutes-and Tennessee Tech trounced NCCAA-member Hiwassee College 80-47 on Monday night.
Jugovic scored nine of Tennessee Tech's first 15 points as the Golden Eagles sprinted to a 15-2 lead. Toure Fudge made a 3 to reduce the Tigers' deficit to seven with 10:42 left before halftime.
Tennessee Tech (2-5) proceeded to outscore the Tigers 24-9 before halftime for a 41-19 lead at the break.
Jugovic-dubbed Serbian Sugar by the school's director of basketball operations-shot 8 for 12 from the floor, Markell Henderson had 12 points and Hakeem Rogers scored 11 for Tennessee Tech. Jeulian High was the only player in double figures for Hiwassee with 10 points.
Tennessee Tech shot 30 for 59 from the floor (50.8 percent) and Hiwassee was 15 for 67 (22.4). The Golden Eagles had a 50-39 rebound advantage though the Tigers collected 17 offensive rebounds and had eight steals.
