Cobb, Milin help Fairfield hold off Iona 93-87
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Curtis Cobb scored 22 points, Matija Milin a career-high 21, and Fairfield held off Iona 93-87 on Monday.
Tyler Nelson had 17 points, six rebounds and eight assists and Jerome Segura had 15, six and seven for the Stags (7-5, 2-1 Metro Atlantic). Jerry Johnson had 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Fairfield led 45-36 at the half and kept fending off the Gaels until a layup by Jordan Washington put Iona up 82-81 with 2:37 to play. Fairfield scored the next seven, twice cashing in on second chances to go up 88-82 with 39 seconds left. Segura had two free throws with 26 seconds to go and Cobb made 4 of 4 free throws from there to secure the win.
Washington made 11 of 15 shots and had 28 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Iona (9-6, 2-2) and Rickey McGill added 15.
