Delaware downs Iona 63-54 behind Daly's double-double
NEWARK, Del. -- Ryan Daly scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds, Anthony Mosely added 14 points, and Delaware pulled away in the second half to beat Iona 63-54 on Wednesday night to close its nonconference season.
Darian Bryant scored 11 points for Delaware (7-6), which outscored the Gaels 28-18 in the paint and got 22 points off of 14 turnovers.
Bryant's 3-pointer put Delaware up 38-33 early in the second half, then the Blue Hens pulled away on a 7-0 run and led by 10 while the Gaels went scoreless for nearly five minutes. Cazmon Hayes' 3-pointer with 3:25 left made it 53-38 and the Blue Hens held on.
Trailing early, Iona rallied to a 19-18 lead on Jordan Washington's jumper, then led 23-22 on Schadrac Casimir's 3-pointer. Bryant made a dunk and a layup and the Blue Hens led 31-28 at halftime.
Washington scored 17 points for Iona (8-5), which was held to 34.5 percent shooting from the floor.
