UNCG defeats Belmont Abbey 90-54
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Francis Alonso made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points and UNC Greensboro defeated Belmont Abbey 90-54 on Friday.
Marvin Smith and Jordy Kuiper added 11 points each and Diante Baldwin 10 for the Spartans (4-2), who made 37 of 73 shots -- taking 27 more than the Knights -- for 50.7 percent, and made 11 3-pointers.
UNCG outrebounded the Knights 44-22, including 19 on the offensive boards, led by seven each from R.J. White and Kyrin Galloway. The Spartans outscored Belmont Abbey 52-11 in the paint and scored 28 points off 21 turnovers.
Jacob Wilson led the Division III Knights, who played the game as an exhibition, with 11 points.
UNCG took a 5-2 lead and never trailed and led 44-24 at halftime. The Spartans' largest led was 46 points with 6:59 remaining in the game.
