Wiley continues dominant run as EWU tops Idaho St
CHENEY, Wash. -- Jacob Wiley scored 38 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, the seventh 30-point performance in his last 12 games, and Eastern Washington clinched a first-round bye in the Big Sky Conference tournament with an 89-77 win over Idaho State on Saturday.
Wiley, a graduate transfer from Lewis-Clark State honored on Senior Day, finished 13 of 16 from the field and 12 for 14 from the free-throw line for the Eagles (20-9, 12-4), who have won five straight and seven of eight. Bogdan Bliznyuk added 24 points and 10 rebounds.
EWU never trailed, racing to a 32-11 lead midway through the first half and a 43-33 advantage at the break. Idaho State (5-23, 3-13) cut it to 76-70 on Geno Luzcando's 3-pointer with 2:32 remaining, but Wiley scored six points in the final 1:31 to stave off the Bengals' comeback attempt.
Brandon Boyd led the Bengals with 16 points and Luzcando had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
