Keene's 36 propels C. Michigan past Pepperdine 88-77
AUSTIN, Texas -- Marcus Keene had a career-high 36 points on 14-for-22 shooting from the floor and distributed seven assists to lead Central Michigan past Pepperdine in the Lone Star Showcase on Monday night.
Keene entered the game as the nation's fourth-leading scorer averaging 28.3 points per game.
Central Michigan (4-0) had a 40-39 lead early in the second half before going on a 19-4 run that started when Josh Kozinski hit a 3, Keene added a layup and Braylon Rayson buried a 3 in a span of 73 seconds.
Lamond Murray Jr. made a layup with 16:20 to play reducing the Pepperdine (3-1) deficit to eight points before Kozinski followed with another 3 and the Chippewas had a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Rayson added 20 points and Kozinski finished with 15.
Murray led Pepperdine with 25 points, Jeremy Major had 16 and Chris Reyes had 14 points and eight rebounds.
