Furman Paladins vs UNC Greensboro Spartans
Furman advances with 80-64 win over UNC Greensboro
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Stephen Croone and Devin Sibley each scored 20 points as No. 3 seed Furman defeated UNC Greensboro 80-64 Saturday night in a quarterfinal game of the Southern Conference tournament.
Furman (18-14) advances to play second seed East Tennessee State in a semifinal game on Sunday. Sibley made a layup with 7:37 to before halftime to give Furman a 26-12 lead, but the Spartans closed the half outscoring the Paladins 17-10.
Furman, however, started the second half with a Croone 3 and a layup, Sibley hit a jumper as did Kris Acox and the lead went to 13. Asad Lamot hit a 3 and the Spartans drew to within six with 7:36 to play, but Furman used a 9-2 spurt to put the lead back to 13 with 4:23 left.
Kayel Locke led the Spartans with 16 points.
