Dunbar leads Navy past Lafayette in Patriot League tourney
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Tilman Dunbar made 13 of 14 free throws and finished with 22 points and eight assists, while Shawn Anderson scored 21 with four assists and three steals to help No. 7 seed Navy beat 10th-seeded Lafayette in the first round of the Patriot League tournament on Tuesday night.
The Midshipmen, who snapped a four-game skid, will play No. 2 seed Lehigh (15-14) in the quarterfinals Thursday night.
Tom Lacey had 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, and Zach Fong scored nine, all on 3-pointers, for Navy (19-13).
Bryce Scott hit seven 3s and finished with 29 points to lead Lafayette (6-24). Monty Boykins added 14 points and Matt Klinewski scored 10.
Boykins hit a 3 to pull Lafayette within six with 1:46 to play, but Dunbar made 4 of 4 foul shots from there and Navy held on.
The Midshipmen outrebounded Lafayette 41-27.
