Furman tops Mount St. Mary's from the free-throw line, 69-60
ELON, N.C. -- Furman knocked down 10 straight free throws, four-in-a-row by Stephen Croone, and Furman held off Mount St. Mary's, 69-60, in the mainland portion of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at Elon University on Friday night.
The Paladins lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christie, 73-69 while The Mountaineers lost to host Elon, 79-74 in tournament games on Thursday.
Chris Wray pulled Mount St. Mary's even at 56-56 by converting the first of two free throws with 3:50 left to play. John Davis III started the closing run by hitting both free throws with 3:23 left and Croone hit four-straight to make it 62-56 with under a minute left.
Croone had 17 points and Matt Rafferty pulled down 13 rebounds to lead Furman (3-3).
Gregory Graves and BK Ashe each had 11 points to lead the Mountaineers (0-6). Junior Robinson and Taylor Danaher each added 10 points.
