McNeese Cowboys @ Lamar Cardinals
McNeese State fends of Lamar, 77-74
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Jarren Greenwood scored 19 points and Austin Lewis hit a pair of free throws to seal a 77-74 victory for McNeese State over Lamar on Monday night.
McNeese State (8-19, 6-11 Southland Conference) held a 10 point lead at halftime and a 69-57 lead after a Greenwood layup with 2:57 to go. But Lamar battled back on a 15-4 run; cutting its deficit to three on two Marcus Owens free throws and then to one on a pair of Kevin Booze foul shots with six seconds to go.
Booze fouled Lewis on the ensuing possession; and the senior hit both to ice it.
Jamaya Burr added 13 points and Craig McFerrin had 11 for the Cowboys, who have won back-to-back games following a four-game skid.
Owens led the Cardinals (11-18, 3-14) with 16 points. Booze and Preston Mattingly each had 14.
