EDINBURG, Texas -- Antonio Green scored 21 points and Texas-Rio Grande Valley beat Chicago State 82-72 on Thursday.
Green was 8 of 12 from the floor with five 3-pointers and six assists for the Vaqueros (5-13, 1-2 Western Athletic Conference). J.J. Thompson scored 18 points with eight assists, Dakota Slaughter added 15 points and Dan Kimasa had 16 with seven boards. Shaquille Hines grabbed 14 rebounds, a career high, to go with 10 points.
Kieran Woods led Chicago State (4-15, 0-3) with 16 points. Jordan Madrid-Andrews had 12 points and Anthony Eaves added 10. Trayvon Palmer grabbed 15 boards, one off his career high.
The Vaqueros opened the second half with a 14-7 run over four minutes, which extended a one-point halftime lead to 54-46.
The lead reached 15 on Green's 3-pointer with 8:44 to go and Chicago State didn't threaten down the stretch.
