Fairleigh Dickinson beats CCSU 81-75
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Earl Potts Jr. had 17 points and Fairleigh Dickinson closed the regular season with an 81-75 win over Central Connecticut State on Saturday.
Darian Anderson scored 16 and Marques Townes 15. Anderson's 3-pointer with 21 seconds left capped the scoring and Fairleigh Dickinson (15-14, 11-7 Northeast Conference) earned a share of second place in the final standings.
The Knights were 11 of 25 from 3-point range with Townes and Ghassan Nehme sinking three each.
It was the final game for Blue Devils head coach Howie Dickenman. He announced his retirement on Feb. 18 effective at the end of the season after 40 years coaching college basketball, the last 20 at his alma mater, CCSU (4-25, 3-15).
Brandon Peel had 21 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for the Blue Devils, who did not qualify for the conference tournament. JJ Cratit added 17 points and Austin Nehls scored 15.
