UNLV hits 13 3s in 107-45 victory over New Mexico Highlands
LAS VEGAS -- Jalen Poyser made four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, Stephen Zimmerman Jr. had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and UNLV beat New Mexico Highlands 107-45 on Monday night.
UNLV went on a 47-4 spurt over the final 10:32 of the first half to take a 60-14 halftime lead. The Runnin' Rebels' lead reached the winning margin of 62 with 8:32 left in the second half.
Zimmerman was 7 of 9 from the field and Poyser was perfect from distance for UNLV (2-0). Derrick Jones Jr. added 14 points, and Ike Nwamu and Jerome Seagears had 12 apiece.
UNLV made 54 percent of its shots, including 13 of 27 3-pointers.
Jonathon Mines led New Mexico Highlands with 12 points and Kendrick Nichols added 10. The Cowboys shot just 28 percent and turned it over 27 times. UNLV scored 43 points off the turnovers.
