VMI beats Division III-member Bridgewater College 72-37
LEXINGTON, Va. -- QJ Peterson had 19 points and 10 rebounds, narrowly missing his eighth 20-plus game this season, and VMI beat Bridgewater (Va.) 72-37 on Wednesday night.
Julian Eleby added 16 points for VMI (5-6) and Tim Marshall had 15. Peterson and Eleby combined to make seven of the Keydets' eight 3-pointers.
Jesse Case led Bridgewater with nine points. The Eagles were held to 13-of-54 shooting (24 percent).
VMI led by 14 points at halftime, 35-21, and outscored Bridgewater 31-5 to start the second half for a 40-point lead. The Eagles only made four field goals in the second half (18:48, 5:33, 1:46 and 0:01) and were 7 of 11 from the free-throw line.
VMI beat Bridgewater 112-86 in Nov. 2013 and set a Cameron Hall record with 13 blocked shots. The Keydets had nine blocks on Wednesday.
