Samford beats Idaho 75-58 to win Mean Green Showcase
DENTON, Texas -- Christen Cunningham scored 26 points, Darius Jones-Gibson added 21 and Samford beat Idaho 75-58 on Wednesday in the championship game of the Mean Green Showcase.
Cunningham was 8 of 11 from the field and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line, and Jones-Gibson hit 10 of 12 free throws.
Wyatt Walker added 10 points for Samford (5-1), which won its fifth straight game.
Cunningham hit a 3-pointer from the corner to extend Samford's lead to 59-38 with 8:11 to go and the Vandals only got within 13 points the rest of the way.
Perrion Callandret tied a career-high with 18 points to pace Idaho (4-2) and Arkadiy Mkrtychyan added 12. The Vandals turned it over 20 times and were held to 18-of-49 shooting (37 percent).
