East Tennessee St. beats Wofford 71-66 for 5th-straight win
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Ge'Lawn Guyn scored 20 points to help East Tennessee State hold on and beat Wofford 71-66 on Saturday for its fifth-straight win.
The Buccaneers, who entered the game having already clinched at least second place in the Southern Conference standings, shot 51 percent from the floor and bounced back from an 87-73 loss at Wofford on Jan. 28.
T.J. Comer had 16 points and Desonta Bradford chipped in 10 for East Tennessee State (21-10, 14-4).
Fletcher Magee scored 22 points and C.J. Neumann added 13 to lead Wofford (15-16, 11-7).
Derrick Brooks split a pair of free throws and the Terriers had their last lead, 56-55 with five minutes remaining. A 12-7 spurt, capped by a Peter Jurkin jump shot, gave the Buccaneers a 67-63 lead with 54 seconds left.
Magee made a 3-pointer to pull Wofford to 67-66. Jurkin and Guyn each made a pair of free throws to seal it.
