Guyn scores career-best 32 points, ETSU beats Mercer 77-74
MACON, Ga. -- Ge'Lawn Guyn scored a career-high 32 points and East Tennessee State held on to beat Mercer 77-74 on Saturday for its third-straight win.
Guyn was 10 of 17 from the floor and made seven 3-pointers. Desonta Bradford added 12 points for the Buccaneers (19-10, 12-4 Southern Conference), who shot 50 percent of their 3-point tries, 14-of-18.
Jordan Strawberry had 22 points to lead Mercer (18-11, 8-8), which has lost five straight. Phillip Leonard and Lawrence Brown added 14 points apiece.
James Bento split a pair of free throws and the Bears had their last lead, 71-70 with 2:28 remaining. Bradford answered with a 3-pointer and a layup and the Buccaneers led 75-71 with 1:30 left. Strawberry made a 3-pointer to pull Mercer to 75-74, and Guyn made a pair of free throws to make it 77-74.
The Bears missed two, 3-point attempts in the final five seconds to end it.
