Collins' 23 helps Wofford defeat The Citadel 99-89
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Spencer Collins scored 23 points, C.J. Neumann collected 11 rebounds and Eric Garcia handed out 11 assists as Wofford beat The Citadel 99-89 Saturday night.
Wofford (14-13, 10-4 Southern) took control early and led 52-37 at halftime.
Quinton Marshall's dunk brought The Citadel to within 59-54, but Justin Gordon followed with a dunk that sparked a 9-2 Terriers run. The Citadel countered with an 11-4 run that brought the Bulldogs to with five again but could get no closer.
Ryan Sawvell had 16 points for Wofford on 8-for-10 shooting, Fletcher Magee scored 15 points, Gordon added 14 and Neumann had 10.
Derrick Henry scored 23 points for the Bulldogs, shooting 7 for 9 each from the field and free throw line.
The Citadel (10-17, 3-11) snatched 13 steals on the night and set a record for most steals in a season with four games left to play in the regular season.
