Hot-shooting Yale rolls past Cornell 88-64
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Brandon Sherrod scored 18 points to help Yale rout Cornell 88-64, and clinch a share of the Ivy League title on Friday night.
The Bulldogs (21-6, 12-1) have won 16 of their last 17 games, and have a one-game lead over Princeton, who lost to Harvard 73-71. Yale concludes its regular season at Columbia on Saturday while the Tigers have two games left.
Yale won outright league titles in 1957, 1962 and 1963, and shared the crown with Princeton and Penn in 2002.
Khaliq Ghani and Makai Mason added 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who shot 54 percent overall and had six in double figures.
Matt Morgan had 12 points and Darryl Smith 11 to lead Cornell (9-18, 2-11), which has lost nine straight.
Yale had a double-digit lead six minutes in, built a 40-22 halftime lead and cruised from there.
