Western Kentucky beats Texas-San Antonio 83-70
SAN ANTONIO -- Aaron Cosby scored 21 points and Western Kentucky beat Texas-San Antonio 83-70 on Thursday night.
The Hilltoppers (12-11, 4-6 Conference USA) shot 51 percent, made 7 of 19 3-point attempts and 24 of 29 from the line. Justin Johnson scored 14 points, while Fredrick Edmond had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. WKU won the rebound battle 43-24, with Ben Lawson grabbing 11.
UTSA (4-19, 2-8) was led by Christian Wilson with 27 points -- one off his career high. Ryan Bowie scored 18 points and James Ringholt added 13.
Western Kentucky trailed early, then went on a 21-0 run over 7 1/2 minutes -- including a pair of 3-pointers by Chris McNeal -- and led 44-24 at the break.
The Roadrunners closed to within 10 points with 3:04 left, but WKU made 12 of 14 free throws down the stretch.
