Clareth helps Siena claim 20th win, No. 3 seed in 80-65 win
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Nico Clareth scored 20 of his 24 points in the first half when Siena built an 18-point lead and cruised to its 20th win, an 80-65 victory over Quinnipiac on Sunday in a regular-season finale.
The Saints (20-11, 13-7) clinched the No. 3 seed for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament, snapping a two-game losing streak. Saturday, Siena will play the winner of Thursday's 6-11 game in the quarterfinals.
Siena scored the first 12 points, eight from Clareth, and led 45-27 at halftime. Clareth -- starting in place of Lavon Long, who sat after missing a practice -- was 8 of 10 in the half.
Javion Ogunyemi scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half for Siena. Marquis Wright added 14 points, 10 in the first half, and Brett Bisping grabbed 18 rebounds, matching his career high for the fifth time.
Abdulai Bundu scored 14 points for the Bobcats (9-20, 6-14), who have lost three straight.
