LIU Brooklyn beats Niagara 80-79 in OT
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Aakim Saintil scored 21 points and Trevon Woods hit a game-winning layup in overtime as LIU Brooklyn beat Niagara 80-79 on Saturday.
The Blackbirds (5-3) trailed 79-78 in overtime when Woods sank a layup with five seconds left for the win.
LIU Brooklyn trailed by nine, 65-56, with 6:47 left in regulation but Saintil and Martin Hermannsson helped close the gap and Saintil put the Blackbirds on top, 70-68, on a pair of free throws with 1:54 remaining. Niagara's Dominic Robb struck from inside the paint with 12 seconds to go to tie it at 70 and the game went into overtime.
Hermannsson added 17 points for the Blackbirds and Jerome Frink and Nura Zanna had 12 apiece.
Matt Scott led the Purple Eagles (3-8) with 22 points and nine rebounds. Emile Blackman also had 22 points and Robb added 12.
