Blackman scores 21, Niagara comes back to beat Marist 76-72
LEWISTON, N.Y. -- Emile Blackman scored 21 points for the second time in as many games. and Maurice Taylor, Jr. added 10 as Niagara came from behind to defeat Marist 76-72 on Thursday night.
With the game tied at 61-61, Taylor drove for a layup with three minutes left, and then stole the ball, resulting in Blackman's 3-pointer and a five-point lead with 2:15 to play. Marist missed its next three shots, while Blackman, Matt Scott and Karonn Davis made 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch
Niagara (7-21, 5-12 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) scored 20 points at the foul line, and outscored Marist 40-28 in the paint.
Marist (5-21, 2-15) was without its leading scorers, Khallid Hart (21.2 ppg), knee, and Brian Parker (17 ppg) illness. David Knudsen led the Red Foxes with 17 points, a career high, and Kristin Palsson notched his first double-double with 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds.
