Toledo handles Kent State 82-67 behind Boothe's 26
KENT, Ohio -- Nathan Boothe scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his fifth straight double-double to lead Toledo past Kent State 82-67 on Saturday night.
Jonathan Williams added 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting and had six assists for the Rockets (14-9, 5-5 Mid-American Conference), who shot 59 percent from the field and made 12 of 19 3-pointers. Nate Navigato chipped in 11 points.
Toledo stretched their five-point halftime lead to 66-50 after Navigato and Williams each hit 3-pointers. Zach Garber's jumper and dunk gave the Rockets a 70-53 edge with eight minutes left.
The Golden Flashes used a 9-2 run, capped by Khaliq Spicer's jumper to pull to 72-62 with 3:35 to play, but the Rockets finished on a 10-5 run.
Galal Cancer scored a career-high 19 points for Kent State (15-8, 6-4), which has lost three straight for the first time this season. Jimmy Hall added 16 points and Deon Edwin had 15.
