Western Kentucky stops Louisiana Tech 96-90 in overtime
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Aaron Cosby scored a career-high 34 points and 7-foot-1 reserve Ben Lawson swatted away two shots in the last 20 seconds as Western Kentucky battled past Louisiana Tech 96-90 in overtime Saturday.
The Hilltoppers ended the regular season with four wins in five games, entering the Conference USA Tournament as an eighth seed, to face No. 9 North Texas Wednesday. Louisiana Tech fell from a potential second seed to fourth.
Lawson threw down a dunk with four seconds left in regulation to tie at 79-79, and Western Kentucky scored the first six points of overtime.
Erik McCree scored to pull Louisiana Tech within 91-88 with 1:06 left in OT but Lawson stepped up to block McCree twice in the last 20 seconds and he finished with another dunk as time ran out.
Alex Hamilton led the Bulldogs with 33 points, five assists and four steals. McCree scored 20 points. Each was playing with four fouls.
