UC Davis beats Holy Names 74-49 to snap losing streak
DAVIS, Calif. -- Neal Monson scored a career-high 20 points and UC Davis beat Holy Names 74-49 on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak.
Siler Schneider added 18 points and Lawrence White a career-high 14 for the Aggies (5-8), who made 30 of 54 shots for 57 percent despite only making 1 of 12 3-point tries.
The Aggies did most of their damage inside, using a 46-26 rebounding advantage to score 54 points in the paint. Georgi Funtarov had nine rebounds and Monson and Garrison Goode eight each.
UC Davis outscored Holy Names 20-4 over the first eight minutes. The Aggies led by 23 at halftime and their lead didn't dip below 18 points in the second half.
Jonathan Cortez had 11 points and Reece Wible 10 for Holy Names. The game was an exhibition for the Division II Warriors.
The Aggies open Big West play at UC Irvine on Thursday.
