Davis scores 23 points as Charlotte upends W. Kentucky 88-71
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Jon Davis scored 23 points as Charlotte upended Western Kentucky 88-71 on Saturday night.
Davis finished with 9-of-12 shooting from the field including four 3-pointers for the 49ers (6-13, 3-4 Conference USA). Braxton Ogbueze added 19 points, Curran Scott had 15 points and Joseph Uchebo had 14 points and led the team with 13 rebounds.
Charlotte opened the game with a 15-4 run capped by a Scott 3-pointer and never trailed after that on its way to a 37-34 lead at the break. Davis hit all four of his 3-pointers in the first half.
Western Kentucky trailed by six, 46-40, four minutes into the second half but Charlotte blew it open after that on a 12-2 run to take a 58-42 lead with 12:20 to play and the 49ers cruised to the win.
Fredrick Edmond scored 18 points with 14 rebounds for the Hilltoppers (10-10, 2-5). Justin Johnson had 21 points and six boards.
