Oguine's career 27 leads Montana over Montana State 87-78
MISSOULA, Mont. -- Michael Oguine scored a career-high 27 points and Montana beat Montana State 87-78 on Saturday night to sweep the season series against the Bobcats and remain atop the Big Sky Conference standings.
Brandon Gfeller scored 24 points and Martin Breunig and Walter Wright added nine apiece for Montana (17-8, 12-2), which made 30 of 42 free throws in winning its fourth-straight game.
Trailing by seven at halftime, the Bobcats gained ground on a 10-2 run and pulled to within 54-53 on Tyler Hall's three free throws with 12:41 left to play.
But Montana pulled away and led 80-69 on Oguine's layup with 3:40 to go.
Quinton Everett's free throw pulled the Bobcats within seven, 85-78, with 58 seconds left, but Montana State got no closer.
Hall scored 30 points with seven 3-pointers for Montana State (12-14, 7-7), which lost to the Griz 80-72 on Jan. 30 and ends a three-game win streak.
