Navy pulls away from D-III Goucher 76-47
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Tom Lacey had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Shawn Anderson added 13 points, and Navy surged ahead in the second half to beat Division III Goucher 76-47 on Sunday.
Will Kelly scored 10 points with 10 boards for the Midshipmen (2-2), who outrebounded the Gophers 50-21. Tilman Dunbar had six of the 21 assists Navy used in scoring 30 field goals.
Up 26-24 at halftime, Navy opened with a 14-3 run, then used a 14-0 run in which Tim Abruzzo hit back-to-back 3-pointers to lead 56-32 with 11:01 left. Zach Fong hit a 3 amid a 9-2 run and Navy continued to pour it on.
Navy outscored Goucher 50-23 in the second half.
Kevin Miles made four 3-pointers and led Goucher with 14 points. Seven of the Gophers' 17 field goals came from beyond the 3-point line. Goucher was 17-of-49 shooting (35 percent), including 7 of 17 from 3.
