Dunbar helps Navy top Lafayette 74-68
EASTON, Pa. -- Tilman Dunbar scored 21 points and Navy topped Lafayette 74-68 on Saturday.
Dunbar was 6 of 11 from the field, 8 of 12 from the line and had six assists for the Midshipmen (18-9, 9-5 Patriot). Will Kelly scored 12 points with 10 rebounds and Shawn Anderson added 10 points. Navy held a 39-29 advantage on the boards and hit half of its 16 3-point attempts.
Navy trailed by as many as eight in the second half, but Dunbar's free throw with 4:36 to go tied it at 57. Will Kelly's layup with 48 seconds left put the Midshipmen up by five, and Lafayette was forced to foul. Navy proceeded to made 7 of 8 from the line in the last 40 seconds to hold on.
Zach Rufer led Lafayette (5-20, 2-12) with 15 points. Nick Lindner had 13 points and Bryce Scott added 12 as the Leopards lost their ninth in a row.
