George Washington cruises over George Mason 74-52
WASHINGTON -- Kevin Larsen and Patricio Garino both scored 17 points and George Washington cruised over George Mason 74-52 on Tuesday night.
Garino was 7 of 14 from the field, while Larsen was 6 of 10 with eight rebounds for GW (22-8, 11-6 Atlantic-10). Tyler Cavanaugh added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Jaire Grayer led George Mason (10-20, 4-13) with 14 points. The Patriots hit on just 4 of 15 3-point attempts.
It was a slow start for both teams -- Cavanaugh's 3-pointer at the 15:04 mark of the first half made it 5-4 for GW. George Mason went up 15-14 on Shevon Thompson's dunk a few minutes later, but that was the last lead the Patriots would enjoy.
George Washington went on a 15-5 run to open up a 29-20 lead, and extended it to 39-23 at the break. The Colonials pushed the lead over 20 on Alex Mitola's 3-pointer with 14:02 remaining.
