UMass outlasts Duquesne in OT 108-99
PITTSBURGH -- Jabarie Hinds scored a career-high 37 points and Massachusetts outlasted Duquesne in overtime 108-99 on Sunday.
UMass hit its first three shots in the extra session, including Hinds' 3-pointer with 3:04 left, which put the Minutemen up 92-86. Duquesne's Micah Mason hit a jumper to make it a four-point game, then the Dukes resorted to fouling. But UMass (11-13, 4-8 Atlantic 10) made 16 of 20 from the line in the last 2:43 to prohibit a comeback.
Duquesne went up by two with 1:55 to go in regulation on a pair of free throws by Mason, but didn't score again. Donte Clark's free throws with 41 seconds left tied it to prompt overtime.
Hinds was 13 of 20 from the field with seven 3-pointers. Trey Davis scored 26 points, while Clark and Antwan Space had 17 apiece. Space added 17 rebounds, a career high.
Mason led Duquesne (15-10, 5-7) with 29 points and 10 assists, both career bests. L.G. Gill added 20 points.
