Sacred Heart Pioneers @ UMass Lowell River Hawks
White with 3-point play, UMass beats Sacred Heart 87-84
LOWELL, Mass. -- Isaac White converted a 3-point play in the final five seconds and Massachusetts-Lowell beat Sacred Heart 87-84 on Wednesday night.
White finished with 17 points. Jahad Thomas scored 20, and Ryan Jones had 12 and for the River Hawks (1-1). Cane Broome had 20 points and added 10 rebounds to lead Sacred Heart (1-2). Jordan Allen and Chris Robinson had 16 points apiece for Sacred Heart (1-2).
Broome made a pair of free throws, Quincy McKnight scored a layup and Allen added a jumper to give the Pioneers an 82-77 lead with four minutes left. Thomas made two free throws, Logan Primerano scored on a 3-point play, Mark Cornelius hit layup and the River Hawks led 84-82.
Broome answered with a layup to tie it at 84 with 47 seconds left. White was fouled on his layup and made the free throw to seal it.
