CS Bakersfield turns back Fresno Pacific 81-68
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Kevin Mays scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lift Cal State Bakersfield to an 81-68 win over Fresno Pacific on Friday.
Damiyne Durham hit five 3-pointers and added 18 points for the Roadrunners (3-0). Mays hit 9 of 14 field-goal attempts and 11 of 15 free throws. Eight of his rebounds were on the offensive end as Bakersfield outrebounded the Sunbirds 39-29.
Spencer Krannitz had 17 points and Tyrone Viney Jr., 15 with a 10-for-10 performance at the foul line in the game that was an exhibition for NAIA Fresno Pacific.
Bakersfield led by a dozen at halftime and opened the second half with an 11-1 run to go up 54-32. Aly Ahmed scored the first four points with Durham contributing a 3 and Mays a tip-in. When the Sunbirds got within 11, Mays scored six straight points to make it 75-58 with 5:46 left.
