ALBANY, N.Y. -- Evan Singletary had 22 points, five rebounds and five assists on Wednesday night to help Albany beat Massachusetts-Lowell 75-63.
The Great Danes (16-6, 5-2 America East) led 68-62 with 3:14 left and pulled away by making 5 of 7 free throws while the River Hawks (7-14, 3-5) went scoreless over the next 2:15.
Jahad Thomas made 1 of 2 from the foul line for UMass-Lowell, and Singletary's layup with 51 seconds left capped the scoring.
Albany scored the last eight points of the first half to build its largest lead at 47-31. The River Hawks chipped away at the margin until Thomas' layup with 3:49 left made it 65-59. Dallas Ennema answered with a 3-pointer to push the Great Danes back up by nine.
Joe Cremo and Greig Stire scored 13 each for Albany.
Josh Gantz led UMass-Lowell with 12 points and Isaac White scored 10.
