Wright State holds off surging Milwaukee in 84-82 OT win
MILWAUKEE -- Mark Alstork scored the first four points of overtime plus the winning basket at the end and Wright State held off comeback-minded Milwaukee 84-82 in a Horizon League opener on Saturday.
Joe Thomasson led the Raiders (7-7, 1-0) with 21 points and Alstork finished with 17.
Milwaukee (9-5, 0-1) trailed by 15 points midway through the second half when Akeem Springs hit a basket to start a 14-0 run that brought the Panthers to within 66-65. The Panthers took a 69-68 lead on Matt Tiby's basket, and JayQuan McCloud hit a 3-pointer for a 74-74 tie. Each team missed a chance to win in the last 28 seconds of regulation.
Alstork broke an 82-82 tie with 1:16 left in OT, which stood as the winner as neither team scored thereafter.
Tiby scored 23 points with nine rebounds for Milwaukee and Springs scored 19.
