Memphis routs East Carolina 83-53 in AAC finale
GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Avery Woodson made six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as Memphis routed East Carolina 83-53 on Sunday.
The Tigers (17-14, 8-10 American) are the No. 6 seed and play third-seeded Tulsa in an AAC tournament quarterfinal on Friday night. East Carolina (12-19, 4-14) is the eighth seed and faces No. 9 South Florida in Thursday's first round.
Memphis senior Shaq Goodwin added 17 points, and has 1,412 career points to become just the third player in the program with over 1,400 points, 800 rebounds and 190 blocked shots.
Dedric Lawson had 14 points and Trashon Burrell chipped in 13 for the Tigers.
B.J. Tyson scored 12 points to lead East Carolina.
Woodson made a jumper to tie it at 20, and sparked a 21-6 run to give the Tigers a 41-26 halftime lead. Goodwin forced a turnover then made two free throws and Memphis led 56-36 with 12:43 left and cruised from there.
