South Florida uses 11 blocked shots to top Tulane, 73-60
NEW ORLEANS -- Jahmal McMurray scored 23 points and South Florida used 11 blocked shots to shut down Tulane for a 73-60 victory Wednesday night.
Tulane took the lead right off the bat when Dylan Osetkowski drilled a 3-pointer 10 seconds into the contest and he gave the Green Wave a 14-10 lead on a layup. But South Florida answered with a 10-0 run and led by eight at intermission.
Jaleel Cousins and Ruben Guerrero each collected five blocked shots for the Bulls (5-17, 2-7 American). Cousins finished with 17 points and nine rebounds and Angel Nunez added 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Guerrero finished with just four points but grabbed eight rebounds as the inside trio grabbed a combined 27 boards.
The Bulls outrebounded Tulane 44-34.
Osetkowski and Malik Morgan scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead Tulane (8-14, 1-8).
