Gardner-Webb pulls away late to beat High Point, 79-74
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Adonis Burbage and Harold McBride scored 16 points apiece to lead Gardner-Webb to a 79-74 victory over High Point on Wednesday night.
Burbage made four 3-pointers and finished 6-of-10 shooting from the floor. McBride had three 3s and made 5 of 9 field goals. Dylan Poston added 15 points and Tyrell Nelson chipped in 10 for Gardner-Webb (12-12, 7-5 Big South Conference), which shot 57 percent from the field and 50 percent on 11-of-22 shooting from the arc.
John Brown had season-highs of 32 points and 13 rebounds to lead High Point (14-8, 7-4). Adam Weary had 17 points and Anthony Lindauer added 10.
Brown made a layup and the Panthers had their last lead 58-57 with 8:26 to play. Nelson answered with a layup, sparking a 16-6 run and the Bulldogs led 73-64 with two minutes left. Nelson scored six points and McBride added five during the stretch.
