Northeastern rallies past Delaware in 50th meeting, 69-60
NEWARK, Del. -- David Walker scored 24 points and Quincy Ford added 18 as Northeastern captured its third straight win over Delaware with a 69-60 victory Saturday afternoon in the 50th meeting between the Colonial Athletic Association rivals.
Delaware holds the edge in the series, 27-23. The win is Northeastern coach Bill Coen's 96th in CAA play, most in school history, surpassing Jim Calhoun's 95 from 1972 to 1986.
Delaware led at intermission, 28-23, but a pair of 3-pointers by Walker sandwiched around another by Donnell Gresham Jr. put the Huskies (12-7, 4-2 CAA) ahead, 45-41, and a third Walker trey capped a 14-2 run that made it 52-43 with 8:11 left in the game.
Walker finished 8 of 18 from the field, including 5 of 13 from beyond the arc.
Marvin King-Davis scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Blue Hens (5-12, 0-6). Cazmon Hayes added 15 points off the bench.
