Brownridge with 19 leads Santa Clara over San Diego 74-71
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Jared Brownridge had 19 points with seven in the last 2:25 and Santa Clara survived a late shooting slump to beat San Diego 74-71 on Thursday night.
The Broncos (9-16, 5-8 West Coast Conference) made 1 of 8 field-goal attempts before Brownridge scored on a fading runner to make it 68-63 with 55 seconds left. San Diego trailed by at least four until Duda Sanadze's 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left.
Henrik Jadersten had 10 of his 12 points in the first half when the Broncos built a 36-32 lead. Brendyn Taylor added 10 points.
The Toreros (8-16, 3-10) briefly took the lead in the early part of the second half before Santa Clara made 9 of 10 shots over a stretch that ended at 59-52 on Taylor's 3-pointer with 9:29 left.
Sanadze had 18 points for San Diego. Olin Carter III added 14 and Vasa Pusica 11.
