Pepperdine beats Duquesne 84-70 in Gulf Coast Showcase
ESTERO, Fla. -- Stacy Davis scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Pepperdine scored an 84-70 victory over Duquesne on Monday in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase.
Duquesne (3-1) was coming off a 78-52 win over Penn State in which the Dukes made a school record 17 3-pointers. But the Waves (2-2), who have held opponents to 15 percent from the arc, limited the Dukes to 6 of 27 3-pointers (22.2 percent) while hitting 10 of 20 of their 3-pointers.
Pepperdine had a 19-point lead early in the second half. Duquesne got within seven, 72-65, with 3:08 left but no closer.
Kameron Edwards added 17 points and Jett Raines 16 for the Waves, who made 24 of 38 free throws to Duquesne's 12 of 18.
L.G. Gill scored 17 points, Derrick Colter 16 and Jeremiah Jones 15 for Duquesne.
Pepperdine plays Murray State in Tuesday's semifinals. Duquesne faces Milwaukee.
